Pearls Hill - Part 1

The Hill behind my house always hold a sense of serenity yet mystery for me..

This is a hill which i spend a large part of my childhood in, there are also times when i use it as a shortcut between my house and my grandma's hse which is just on the opp side of the hill. Sometimes i wander around to explore more.

Daily morning activities would see people jogging vigorously, elderly doing taiji in groups, others having their slow morning walk before dim sum, kids running around with their parents. In the mist of this happening, seasonally, you could see raw cotton floating around from the cotton trees. Drifting in mid air, looking for a spot to lay down. A green pasture where it can breath new life into. On a historical side, this hill seen thru the British Colonial days where this same hill, you could see the sea, the singapore river in its great splendour. This hill is no lesser than Fort Canning. It used to house prisoners on the hill top before it was converted to a water reserves as what it is now.

What a place to be in, for nature or history, this is Pearl's Hill......

Long awaited CBD pictures

Its been a long time since my last post, apologises.

Had a few other practise trips after the CBD Pic-Trip, including 1 to Pearl Park for some macro photography. Every Pic i take is a new lesson learnt.
Without any further ado, let me show you some of the Singapore CBD pictures that i have taken on that eventful day.

Early morning - CBD shot

Woke up at 5:30am and went down to Esplanade by 6:15am, to catch the sunrise at 6:47am.
In my mind, i had pictured having a few shots, before first light, during first light and full sunlight. The weather was cloudy and looks like gonna rain.

"Not a good day for photography" said a Sony A700 photographer.
I couldn't agree more....

TWO Highlights of my morning photoshooting today.
1) Got a morning shot that i am looking for. Something which i try to emulate from which i saw on a photomag. (still trying to catch that "moment")
2) Saw a Sony A-700 photographer. He was using the Manfrotto Tripod - 055 model i think.

I am still going thru the pics and will put up some in my next post.

Will heading back to office shortly for some work.

Need a good SUNDAY rest tomorrow... Have a great weekend!

New Quote from Montague E

I was chatting with CP over MSN when suddenly this quote came out of my mind.

"Everywhere i see, is an opportunity of a good shot to be taken."

My mind is currently looking forward to my trip to Botanical Gardens next week.
It is most likely a Saturday or a Sunday.

Practise makes perfect, as the old saying goes.........

The day after Sungei Buloh

The day started at 6am when i woke up and leaving the hse @ 6.30am. I took a bus and train to Kranji Station and bus 925 from Kranji Station to Sungei Buloh. The trip took me 1hr 30mins from my hse. Though its far, but the end result is worth it, really..

The whole experience took me and my friends (plus his wife) a total of 6+ hours. I practically went thru route 1 and 2 and some part of route 3 in Sungei Buloh. I believe i really gain alot from what i learnt from my friend CP.

CP is a nature photographer hobbyist, as he is a seasoned one, i had invited him to join me in this trip. He provided numerous good advice and it will show in some of my photos once i have them ready.

Thanks CP, for your presence, it is really appreciated.

Hope you will enjoy the next few pictures (taken by T20)

Welcome to Sungei Buloh

Below are some of the shots i took using my Sony Alpha-100.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Behold for more to come....

Sungei Buloh - here i come (22/09)

I am currently preparing some theme/pic topics on what to take when i am having a field day at Sungei Buloh (one of singapore's last few nature reserves). Currently, I have 5 types of pictures i would like to take.

Right now, i am at home resting. (*sniff sniff* Cough Cough) Down with a very bad cough and throat irritation. Had 1 day of rest yesterday but having an additional 1 more day today.
I was given 4 types of medication, OMG! well well, being the good boy, i am going to complete my antibiotics full dosage especially as i don't want to affect the rest of the human kind by contributing to the strengthening of the bacteria resistant to Antibiotics. Gd boy, ain't i? hehe

Getting to know a Sony Alpha 100

A few months back, i went for a 2 day Sony Alpha Experience at Sony premises by renowned photographer, Julian W, who conducted the course. The course was really enriching and it demostrated the fundamental techniques of photography and also learning more about Sony's first DSLR foray, the ALPHA 100.

Below are some pictures which i have taken during the course.

I love the Sony Alpha 100 so much that i bought my own set eventually as my own b'day gift.

Wah ha ha ha ha ha.... :P

My very own set of Alpha 100 includes the following
1) Carrying case
2) Battery
3) Charger
4) Kit Lens (18-70mm)
5) Camera Body
6) Usual Freebies (Alpha 100K) set

I really love my SONY! Finally, its a Sony!

Actually, I have a Cybershot T20 too... hehe....

Pardon my photo, i had used the Mirror for self shot. (updated - Thanks CP for converting the original Pic to show correctly via Photoshop, Great work!)

With the above equipments, i have borrowed a Gitzo carbon fibre Tripod with a Giotto ballhead from my colleague. Thanks CP for your loan tripod.

My passion is at this iniate stage and i hope to grow in this passion. As i grow, i would like to share all that i experience with you and you alone. I hope everyone will benefit from what i have gone thru and lets learn thru my experience.

I love to take more and more photos to share with everyone and anyone reading this blog.

There will be more upcoming photos of 2 events which i will post on my next upload.
